In the same week that BBC2 television launch their new series, ‘A Band for Britain’, local concert goers can enjoy top quality local brass playing as Newstead Brass present a FREE concert on Friday, March 12th in Hucknall’s Seymour Road Baptist Church starting at 8.00 pm.
Built around ‘English Heritage’, the music set for this year’s regional qualifying rounds of the National Brass Band Championships, the concert has a ‘Music of the World’ theme taking the band and audience around the world with music from Britain, Europe, North and South America.
Admission to the concert is FREE, but the audience will be asked to make donations towards the band’s costs and in support of the ‘Maggie’s Appeal’ for a new cancer care Centre in Nottingham.
A band spokesman added, “Many bands, including ourselves, have had to overcome setbacks over recent years and continue to face challenges today. We’re delighted to see the media taking a renewed interest in brass bands. This is a great time for those who’ve not heard a band before to come and experience 21st century brass banding ‘live’ alongside our regular supporters and followers.”
Entrance to the Seymour Road Baptist Church is from Ruff’s Drive and car parking is available.
